About Us
Action on Dementia Sunderland was formed to provide support within the City of Sunderland to people who have dementia and their carers, families and friends. We also promote the interests of people who have dementia and those of their families, carers and friends. Action on Dementia Sunderland has its own constitution based on democratic principles with local control and accountability. We guarantee that all funds raised and donations received will be used to benefit people within the City of Sunderland. Read more about us below.
Our Services
Our mission
Action on Dementia Sunderland was formed in January 2010. Our committee and volunteers have many years of experience in caring for people who have dementia. We understand their needs and the needs of their families and friends. We aim to raise awareness of the issues and needs around dementia and to promote increased access to support and information services for individuals with dementia and their families.
Objectives
- To provide information relating to dementia and services available for those directly affected by dementia and their families/carers.
- To actively raise funds in pursuit of the aim of the group.
- To foster close links with the local community and other organisations in the locality to achieve the objective of the group.
- To work in partnership with other local organisations and groups to further the goals of the group.
Priority
Our current priority is to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, their families and carers. We do this by enabling both to engage with people in the community actively.
